The Galaxy S23 series has started receiving the May 2023 update

Samsung has been making recent security patch rounds to its latest flagship.

Galaxy S23 Ultra, S23+, and S23 started catching the May 2023 security patch per SamMobile. Currently, the update has been spotted rolling out to Galaxy S23 series owners in Europe with the build number S91xBXXS1AWD1. The update file size is around 350MB as well.

Some patience will be required as it makes its way around the world, as always. In the meantime, Samsung has posted the patch notes for the fixed security flaws in full as usual. The Korean OEM notes 70 security flaw fixes in total for this month’s patch. There are 56 “high” priority fixes included in this patch; Four of them are critical, two of which apply to Galaxy devices, specifically.

Some fixes have been introduced regarding Shannon-based Exynos CP chipsets in Galaxy devices. The patch aims to correct “invalid memory access” for potential attackers if they are able to vlog your device. Back in April, this security patch contained additional fixes for modems and Exynos chipsets in addition to the fixes rolled out during the March update.

SamMobile notes that the May update may include some camera improvements, though given the file size, that seems unlikely. The April 2023 security patch came with a huge camera patch for the Galaxy S23 series. However, it appears that it may not have fixed some other issues, such as the banana-like blur some users experienced when taking photos.

Surprisingly, the Galaxy A10e, which was released in 2019, started receiving the May 2023 patch earlier last week in South Korea. Users of this device will find the firmware version A102NKOS3CWD1. Owners of this device should start learning about the update as well, as time moves forward.
