Sure, the Mate X4 wouldn’t be the first foldable smartphone with an under-display selfie camera as Samsung’s Galaxy Fold4 debuted with said screen technology, but it was far from ideal. The selfie camera is well hidden, but it’s sorely lacking in the quality department. Well, Huawei, ZTE, and BOE all think they have finally solved the problem.
It’s been rumored that a new OLED panel dubbed “Q8” will finally solve camera quality issues, thanks mostly to ZTE’s expertise in the field and BOE’s tradition of display production. After all, ZTE’s Axon series pioneered under-display camera technology a few years ago and has made significant improvements over the past few generations. The new screen is rumored to have a resolution of 2,480 x 1,116 pixels and use 1,440 Hz PWM high-frequency dimming.
